Remi Wolf is entering a new chapter with the release of her third studio album, Mud, available now through Island Records. Released October 9, the 11-track project finds the California singer-songwriter embracing a more organic approach to recording, trading some of her trademark maximalism for live instrumentation, collaborative songwriting and arrangements that give the music room to breathe. The album features the previously released singles “Twiggy,” “Bottle” and “I Won’t Cry,” the latter of which Wolf performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! ahead of the release.

Alongside the album, Wolf has announced The Mud Tour, an international run beginning in Australia this December before heading to North America in February 2027. The itinerary includes major stops at New York's Radio City Music Hall, Toronto's Massey Hall, Chicago's Salt Shed and Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

For an artist known for unpredictable melodies, colorful production and genre-defying pop, Mud represents a deliberate change in process. The record was developed during a period of reflection following years of touring, recording and writing, when Wolf began reconsidering how she wanted to approach her next body of work.

Initial recording sessions took place in Nashville, but the album began finding its identity during a retreat to Big Bear, California. Working with longtime collaborator Jared Solomon and friends Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin and Gigi Grombacher, Wolf moved away from a conventional studio routine in favor of a communal creative environment.

Days were spent writing songs, preparing family dinners and passing microphones around the kitchen as ideas developed without rigid expectations. Wolf affectionately described the group as a “family band,” a fitting description for an album shaped as much by the relationships behind the music as by the finished recordings.

That collaborative spirit continued at Electric Lady Studios in New York City before the musicians reunited in Joshua Tree to complete the project. Rather than building every song through isolated recording sessions and painstaking revisions, the group leaned into playing together, allowing arrangements and performances to develop naturally.

Wolf frequently stepped behind the drum kit herself, while the musicians embraced spontaneous performances and the imperfections that can give a recording its character. The approach brought a different dimension to her songwriting, with live instruments and more spacious arrangements forming the foundation of the album.

The result is a collection that retains Wolf's adventurous musical instincts while placing greater emphasis on melody, storytelling and the chemistry between performers. Songs such as “Bottle,” “Twiggy” and “I Won’t Cry” introduce a project built around warmth and musical interaction rather than sheer density of production.

Mud follows Wolf's previous albums, Juno and Big Ideas, which helped establish her distinctive position within contemporary alternative pop. Her catalog has long drawn from funk, soul, rock and electronic music, with elastic vocals and unconventional arrangements connecting those influences.

Her rise has also been driven by a growing live audience. Wolf has performed at Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, while sharing touring bills with Paramore, Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo. Her performances have become an important extension of her recorded music, bringing the unpredictable energy of her songs into a live setting.

Earlier in 2026, Wolf expanded into television with an appearance in Prime Video's Off Campus. The series features several songs from her catalog, and Wolf makes a cameo in its premiere episode. Her television appearances have also included The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

To mark the arrival of Mud, Wolf scheduled two intimate release performances, beginning October 10 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and continuing October 13 at Webster Hall in New York City. The smaller venues offer an immediate introduction to the new material before she returns to larger stages on her international tour.

While the upcoming tour will bring Mud to increasingly ambitious venues, the album itself was created under markedly different circumstances. Its songs emerged from kitchens, shared recording spaces and extended creative retreats where Wolf and her collaborators could experiment without the pressure of immediately producing a finished result.

That shift gives her third album a distinctive place in her catalog. After establishing a reputation for records overflowing with musical ideas, Wolf has made one that gives those ideas, and the musicians developing them, room to unfold. The next test comes onstage, where the loose, collaborative character of Mud will meet the energy of her growing live audience.
