Eva Pagán is celebrating the freedom to build a life on her own terms, including the uncertainty that comes with it. The Los Angeles-based electropop musician has announced EP2, due November 20 via Too Lost, alongside her new single, “I Love It, It’s So Scary.”
Released October 9, the song considers independence through Pagán’s experience as a young queer woman who can decide whether marriage or motherhood belongs in her future. That possibility is both exhilarating and daunting, a tension she makes explicit in the title.
“The song is a love letter to all the women that came before me that fought for my freedom to live my life the way that I want to,” Pagán said in the announcement. She describes a future that may not include marriage or children, emphasizing that the decision belongs to her.
Listeners can stream “I Love It, It’s So Scary” on Apple Music ahead of the EP’s planned November release.
Across the six-track project, Pagán connects that personal independence with her Puerto Rican-German heritage and queer storytelling, writing or co-writing every song. The announced production palette includes pulsing synths, saw bass, electronic drums and guitar, with Spanglish lyrics carrying her heritage into the music.
“All of the songs are inspired, in one way or another, by the independence of being a girl in my mid-20s living in a big city and chasing my dreams,” she said.
The project was written, produced, mixed and mastered entirely by women. Sabrina Song, Amanda Joy and Pagán handled production, with Pagán producing “Gold.” The songwriting team includes Pagán, Song, Emma Botti and Joy, while Samantha Henry is credited as engineer and Gabi Grella as mastering engineer.
Formerly known professionally as Eva Westphal, Pagán adopted her mother’s maiden name as part of a reintroduction centered on her heritage. Her first EP under that name, EP1, arrived in November 2025 as a love letter to her immigrant family.
Pagán grew up between Miami and Boston before moving to New York City, graduating from Columbia University and later settling in Los Angeles for law school at USC. Those moves inform a project concerned with establishing a life in a big city while maintaining ties to family and identity.
The announced EP2 sequence opens with “24/7,” followed by “I Love It, It’s So Scary,” “Cinema,” “Gold,” “Que Dulce” and “Dreams.”
