South African singer-songwriter Will Linley has released Could This Be Forever?, a five-track EP that leans into the bright, emotionally direct alternative pop sound he has developed across his recent releases. Out via Island Records, the project places Linley's expansive voice and romantic songwriting at the center of compact, guitar-led songs built for both private listening and singalongs.

The EP moves between hummable pop melodies, acoustic textures and indie-leaning production, with Linley exploring the exhilaration and uncertainty of new love. Rather than treating romance as a grand abstraction, these songs find their momentum in specific, relatable feelings: taking a chance, getting swept up in a connection and wondering whether it might last.

"Life of the Party" is among the collection's most immediately upbeat moments. A breezy acoustic progression and steady groove support a playful lyric about unexpected romantic luck, while layered harmonies, electric guitar and handclaps give the track an easy, celebratory lift. It captures the sunlit, accessible energy that has helped distinguish Linley in the contemporary pop landscape.

The closing song, "What If It Happens", takes a more cinematic approach. Built around softly strummed guitar and a sweeping chorus, it imagines a relationship enduring even in the most dramatic circumstances. The result is an affectionate finale that gives the EP its title question and its emotional resolution.

Could This Be Forever? track list:

  1. I Loved, I Lost
  2. Life of the Party
  3. Think Twice
  4. Head First
  5. What If It Happens

Linley released the EP while supporting MICO on a North American tour, with announced stops at New York's Webster Hall, Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg, Boston's Paradise Rock Club and Providence's Fete Music Hall.

The Cape Town-born artist first broke through internationally in 2022 with "miss me (when you're gone)," which found a substantial audience on TikTok and streaming platforms. He followed it with the kill all my feelings and magic EPs, as well as his full-length debut, Don't Cry Because It's Over. Along the way, Linley has toured in South Africa, North America and Europe, supported OneRepublic and appeared on festival lineups including Lollapalooza and Rocking The Daisies.

With Could This Be Forever?, Linley continues to make room for earnestness in pop songwriting. The EP's five songs are polished without losing their warmth, offering a concise introduction for new listeners and a romantic next chapter for those who have followed his rise.
