About the song, Sam explains, “‘Secret’ is about that special something that some couples seem to have that makes their relationship work, and the fact that we’re all kind of trying to find that in one way or the other. We all definitely know some people who have found the ‘secret’ and some who definitely haven’t!” He continues,”Musically, I wanted to channel a fun, funky, synthy throwback sound that made this track a ton of fun to produce!”
Sam Tsui has been hailed as an internet singing sensation, who along with his production partner Kurt Schneider was among the first musicians to establish a hugely popular music-focused channel on Youtube. A recent graduate of Yale University, Tsui has been able to harness the ever-changing tools of the digital music age to independently create an internationally popular channel and brand, garnering him countless TV and magazine appearances, including The Ellen Show, The Oprah Show, Entertainment Weekly, Huffington Post, Complex, MTV, Mashable, In Style Magazine and more. Tsui has also supported Ariana Grande and Bon Jovi on tour, and has served as a host and correspondent on “American Idol” and “The Sing Off”. Turning his digital success into ticket sales, he completed a two-month domestic tour in 2013 and a seven country Asia Tour in 2014, with plans for future international touring in the works. Tsui has applied his powerful digital platform to many brand deals, including KIA, Dell, Samsung, LG, Google, and a national spot with Coca Cola that ran during the 2014 Super Bowl.
Following his debut album release, 2013’s Make It Up, Sam is currently working on his second album. “The fact that I’ve spent the last few years covering dozens of popular songs on my channel has meant I’ve really studied what makes pop music good, how it’s been evolving, and has forced me to deconstruct a bunch of huge hit tracks and figure out what makes them tick, “Sam says. “Since I always put my own spin on songs, it’s also been an incredible way to find and sharpen my own writing and production voice in the adaptation. I’ve really been able to learn and grow so much as an artist.”
